Under starters orders...
Ride in Cyprus was conceived in 2004 with a
challenge to set up an ‘Equine Expedition’ in the Troodos forest. We were to
find the Venetian Camel Trail which linked the bridges used to transport
smelted copper from the mines in the Troodos to the ports of Paphos and
Polis.
This
expedition (see press articles) was such fun,
it was the inspiration to do more!
After several treks in spring and autumn, we decided to build stables in
2008 at LYSOS on the edge of the forest overlooking the Akamas ridge and the
Sarama plain.
And We're Off!
Since then we have been taking holidaymakers and local riders into the
breathtaking mountainous scenery to discover hidden Cyprus. Regulars
come throughout the year to improve their riding skills and soothe their
souls and riders from all over the world come to join in treks from just the
day to a whole week. It is fun for us
to design a trek to suit the client’s group, depending on how much
camping/hotel living/hours in the saddle they would like!

Caroline Grossmith
Travelled the world for 24 years and has kept horses in UK, Germany, Kuwait and Cyprus, organising Pony Club and Saddle Club events.
She has ridden all her life wherever she has been. She organised the
first trek in 2004. It is a 'dream come true' for her to enable
others to ride across this beautiful countryside. She has the best
office in the world!

Pawel Sikorski
Got "infected" with the travelling bug by his
Aussie friends back in Poland. He has been travelling across the Europe for the past 8
years. He came to Cyprus to realise his dream of working for himself
in an outdoor orientated business. He is behind the technical and
logistic stuff at RIC, pushing the Defender to its limit. Rock
climbing and mountain biking is top of the agenda when he is not
around the horses, but really he's up for any challenge.

Luke Grossmith
Designed the Ride In Cyprus logo and built the original website
(see right) - is often trek back up driver and route finder,
summer leader, strimmer and shoveller. During his time off he
goes to Plymouth Uni studying Ocean Science.

Max Grossmith
Has spent many hours on the forest tracks finding trek routes
(and applying chains when stuck in the mud!) Photographer, guide and
leader, construction worker, trek back up driver and of course,
shoveller! Max smilingly spent his 19th birthday minding the horses
deep in the forest. In HIS time off he is at Loughborough studying
Physics (and hockey, and any sport!)
